Hello Rita -- I finally made it to SE Alaska for a two-month detail and it was awesome. Saw all the tourist things and went fishing, plus, completed some good work for the FS. I appreciate the inspiration you gave me for an Alaskan Adventure!

Organizing voice tapes of my kids, I came across one with you and them singing at our Sacramento house in 1973. You visited with my sister, Barbara, and a friend, Sue. I'll alert Barbara to your web site. I hope your life is well.

Howdy Rita,
bout 25 yrs ago you were renting a little house on Canon (*tilde) Ave. next to Dimond Park in Oakland
Always wondered when our paths would cross again. I see you've been a busy girl, healthy son, Bless Late Husband, Good Dog, continued respect of Nature's beauty, Park Service, writing & performing your compositions, inspiring direction to others, while your Spirit has remained true to your Calling. Your voice fresh and clear. Your beauty shines, that sparkling smile, looks like 'weather' has been kind you Rita, commendable work. It would be an honor to meet with you again my dear friend...Billy

Hello Rita,
It's been 2 years since I met you and enjoyed your music and voice at the National LEP Workshop in Wisconsin. Through others' comments, I hear you are coming out with another cd? When will it be available?
Peace to You!

Rita: I met you in the 1980's when you sang at an NPS training session (Shenandoah NP I think). I got a couple of tapes from you - one was "I've Grown To Love This Land" - I wore them out over the years! Loved "Old Blue". Have since gotten your cd "Canyon Lifesongs". Your talent is TREMENDOUS!!! When will "Appalachian Lifesongs" be released? Dave Essex, Estes Park, Co (retired at ROMO after six NPS areas over 31 years)

Rita - I feel both blessed and healed to just have met you - and look forward to experiencing more of your wonderful work. Your spirit was a huge gift to the Quivira conference - bringing that 'elusive golden dream' closer to reality with the inspiration of your music and generous nature. Looking forward to seeing you again in either the forests, the desert, or the grasslands!
Que te vaya bien amiga.

I wrote you, but forgot to say I read something interesting in Ripley's. You probably know it already! But my favorite song on "Desert Lifesongs" is "Desert Heart" In fact, it is my favorite song, period; it was the line about the spider climbing to the moon that hooked me. And Now I read in Ripley's that a spider can ride a "gossamer sail" clear across the ocean! Nature never exhausts her wonders! Bless you, my dear, and write me!

My dear, sweet friend,
I listened to your songs after a long and frustrating day of trying to sell art and you balance me, as always. When I feel the crush of "why do I keep putting myself out there", you answer in your songs. I am so deeply thankful for you and what you say to all of us who keep hoping, keep working for a better world. Thank you, my blessed friend. You are truly a gift to all who will hear you.
Your brother always,
Windwalker

It is so wonderful to hear you. I am so delighted to hear you are coming out with "I've Grown to Love This Land" on a CD! I hope it will be very soon and that you will be able to include all the songs, especially the ones you wrote on the one side of the record. My daughter, who saw you with me, my brother, and my entire family loves you, Rita.

25 years ago we bought your "I've Grown to Love this Land" vinyl album in The Great Smoky Mtns. Park. It has been played regularly ever since. It is one of our favorite records. If you come to Washington D.C. area for the National Park Service or the Smithsonian it would be wonderful to hear your music in person. Maybe you could autograph that old album.

You music is a treasure. I am, at the moment, waiting for C.D. Baby to restock "Desert Lifesongs", so that I may purchase it as a gift for good friends and amazing folk musicians here in the Phoenix area who have not yet been exposed to your music.

I have always loved the cassette Canyon Lifestyles I bought many years ago at Arches Natural Park Utah. I am going to order the CD as well as the Desert Lifestyles to remind of the beauty of Arizona and South Eastern Utah while I am in England until I can return.
Maybe someday I might have the pleasure of hearing you in person.
I believe you know my very good friends Gus and Sandra Scott of Prescott.

Hi Rita. I truly love your website. What a treat to see you any time we want. You and Al live in every beat of my heart. I cherish the memories of our first meeting in your NFS office, the coffee time Al and I shared and all the hours (too few) that we spent together during my years in Prescott. Al and Paulette are likely dancing with joy in fields of flowers and I look forward to joining them one day. You are a rich and wonderful person of fabulous talent. It is an honor to call you friend and family.
Walk always in Beauty, my sister,
Windwalker

Rita, I find it so hard to believe I met you and saw you perform only once, the last time you were at the Arizona Folklore Preserve. I play your music so much, especially the Desert Lifesongs CD. My favorite songs are Esta Tierra (for the lovely Spanish guitar and the mix of English and Spanish lyrics) and Ghosts of Yesterday (for the special feeling that song evokes). I'm now living in Tucson and hope to see you here or at the AFP again someday soon. Please write!

I took your picture outside the Oman Adornment tent. I also thanked you after your Kennedy Center performance. I have just booked two weeks of timeshare in Scottsdale (12/03/05 - 12/17/05). If you have time, please suggest scenic sites & historical places that I should see. A Forest Service employee said Grand Canyon is a 3-hr drive away. Enjoyed meeting you & hearing your music. Best wishes, Ron
